Signs you have a ant problem
Ants (cheenti) follow scent trails from the nest to food and water. Wiping or spraying the trail only scatters them; the colony, often inside a wall or under a floor tile, keeps sending more.

Bait vs spray: why ants come back
Most household sprays are repellent. They kill the ants they touch, but the survivors split into new trails and some species "bud" into several colonies, so the problem spreads. Colony baits work the opposite way:

Common ants in Karachi homes
- Pharaoh and sugar ants — tiny, pale, in kitchens and bathrooms; they bud into new colonies if sprayed.
- Black house ants — trail in from windows, balconies and doors, especially in flats in Gulshan and Gulistan-e-Johar.
- Red and fire ants — nest in lawns and garden beds in DHA, Clifton and Malir bungalows; they sting.
- Carpenter-type ants — hollow out damp wood around leaking window frames.
